Summary

Summary
Kageyama and Tsukishima aren’t particularly close, as in “best friend” close. Not like Tsukki and Yamaguchi, or Kageyama and Hinata. But, when Karasuno goes on an unexpected beach trip and they find out they’re assigned to the same room, things start to change.
Painfully. But it’s worth it.

Pushing it open, Tsukishima stepped inside.
And froze.
Kageyama stood in front of the sink, splashing water on his face. Drops rolled down his jawline and neck, dampening his collar. His black hair was dripping slightly, strands clinging to his forehead.
He looked up in the mirror. Their eyes locked.
Kageyama didn’t speak. He just glared, water still beading off his skin.
Tsukishima would be lying if he said it wasn’t a little attractive.

The final game had ended days ago.
The cheers were gone. The trophy sat forgotten on a shelf in the classroom. His teammates were still buzzing talking about scholarships, uniforms, and the pros.
Sawamura Eijun... walked home in silence.
The sun had dipped behind the trees by the time he reached the hill. From there, he could see the empty field they’d played on as kids. The old diamond still faintly visible.
A breeze rolled over the dirt, lifting dust into the fading light.
He stayed there for a while.
Just watching.

“Are you going to keep playing?”
His mother’s voice from that morning. Soft. Careful.
“I guess,” Eijun had said, eyes on the floor. “I mean... I don’t hate it.”
She hadn’t asked more.
That night, lying in bed with his glove on the windowsill, Eijun stared at the ceiling.
Everyone kept talking about high school. About Koshien. About scouts.
But when he closed his eyes, all he saw was dirt, a spinning ball, the sound of the mitt.
That was it.
No crowd. No spotlight.
Just that moment.
And for now, it was enough.
