Serena wanted to say something. To get mad at him for running off, to blow up about staying so far away without even bringing his Pokémon.
And maybe, in some far-off, distant universe, she would’ve expected to be able to comfort him with a few short words. Maybe she would have gotten frustrated when he just needed some time alone.
But instead, she silently strode forward, sitting next to him on the snowy log. She took a deep breath and, after a few moments, mused, “Did I ever tell you why I cut my hair?”
