Summary
Izuku is technically a runaway, not technically homeless, was adopted by cats, and doesn't get enough human interaction.
He has eaten things he'd rather not think about, accidentally done some vigilantism, has a maybe slightly forced positive disposition, and a grand total of two motivations in life that keep him laser-focused on the future instead of processing his daily hardships in any capacity -- healthy or otherwise.
He's got his work cut out for him, but he's never had a better chance to be a hero.
He thinks he's doing pretty well, all things considered. Despite his circumstances and the lies he must tell to make his dreams happen, nothing will distract him from it. Not even the tired scowl of a cat-loving, too-sharp teacher with a built-in bullshit detector, honing in on him from day one.

Izuku lives a tough life after his mom dies, and being a magnet for trouble, he doesn’t have time to think about anything except his next meal and the roof over his head, using his quirk to survive while he strives to follow his dream of being a hero. Lucky for him, he has an innate gift for being adopted by anything with a parental instinct. Whether it's a clowder of cats or a pro hero.

Shameless puns in the title aside, this is the fic where bakugou turns into a cat due to some asshole's quirk and gets accidentally adopted by Shinsou who loves him even though he scratched the eyebags asshole and shit.
And Shinsou feeds him well and gives good pats so he decides to be a decent cat instead of being an ungrateful shit.

“Congratulations on getting nine out of ten questions correct! Without further ado, let’s move on to the last question..” Hanazawa paused for dramatic effect as the lights dimmed and the spotlights overhead honed in on their podiums.
“What is … your hero partner’s type?”
A brief silence.
“‘Type?’” Izuku questioned at the same time as Kacchan.
“Yes, type,” the host laughed. “Like, who would they date? What are they into?”
The blood drained from Izuku’s face and he shot a panicked look at Kacchan. The blond didn’t seem to be faring any better, his gaze zeroed in on Hanazawa as if he could will her to change the question to something else.
Izuku... didn't know the answer to that.

In order to increase their popularity rankings as up and coming pro heroes, Izuku and Katsuki participate in the most popular late night talk show for hero duos - ‘Heroes Rising!’. They’re killing it, obviously, because they know each other from inside and out. Until one question stumps the two of them: “What is your hero partner’s type?”

I haven't even finished this yet but I have to bookmark this because the last line of chapter 8 KILLED me (it may not be tagged as a stsg fic but I love that ship so any sort of angst with it will make me want to cry). The rest of it is obviously amazing too, but that was just perfect.
Edit: I am now up-to-date (12/30) and it is all brilliant. -
