Reassured after his mother praised Rhaenyra and his friendship with Jace was rekindled during the family dinner, Aegon decided to leave in the middle of the night and go have a bit of fun somewhere he had longed to go for ages. It wasn't as though anyone would miss him anyway, now that they no longer needed him to become King. The succession issue was settled. Father finally got what he wanted. Nobody needed him for anything anymore. What better moment for a little time away after all?
Because what could go wrong, right?
Right.
Just one week of fun with no family drama, was that really too much to ask?
