Sarah leaned forward now, closing the space between them. For a moment they were standing far closer than professional boundaries usually allowed. “I am here to give an evaluation,” she said softly. “You’ll get it and with it you’ll get an unbiased opinion if that is what you’re concerned about.” Connor didn’t move. “I won’t compromise your case.”
Up close he could see the faint heat rising in her cheeks, the controlled intensity behind her eyes. And something else beneath it. Something neither of them was quite ready to name.
Connor exhaled slowly. “And yourself?” Her eyes lit up like the embers of a fire. “Will you allow yourself to be compromised?" Her jaw feathered under his words.

She should say something. Move in some capacity. Reclaim the space. But her body remembered him before her mind caught up — the weight of those eyes, the heat of his hands, the quiet gravity that always pulled her toward him when she should’ve run.
“Dr. Rhodes,” she managed, breath catching at the edges.
OR Sarah Reese is brought back to Gaffney in Season 10, and Connor Rhodes is back in her life with it and enough history to drown them both.
