Remus's stomach dropped at the word. His body went rigid beneath Sirius's hands, shame flooding through him — hot, immediate, suffocating. He could feel Sirius's disappointment like a physical thing, pressing down on him through their connection. "I– I tried, I just– " His voice broke. "I couldn't– "
"No," Sirius said softly. "You couldn't."
