Summary
Obito missed this. Sparring with Kakashi. Being alive. Kakashi was so expressive when they fought that Obito could almost feel his pain, taste his blood, drink his sweat. Like this, they were no longer Kakashi and Obito. They were just pure instinct. Heavy breathing and adrenaline. It felt good for once to be dehumanized, reduced to nothing but a tool made for fighting.
“You’ve changed, Obito,” came Kakashi’s voice, strained from exertion, and drenched in a certain tone that Obito couldn’t quite put his finger on.
Had he changed? Obito wasn’t sure. It was a question that struck him, that forced him to confront everything he thought he knew. If Obito had changed, that meant admitting there was something to change.
A telling of how Obito has gone through life feeling distinctly non-human. He’s not sure who he is anymore or what his own face even looks like. But he remembers Kakashi’s face clearly, and he remembers exactly how Kakashi made him feel. When they’re in Kamui together, he is forced to confront these feelings, and they all hit him at once.

Summary
It is doubtlessly true that Shikamaru Nara is excessively lazy. However, it is also true that he is extremely devoted to those who have earned it.
Despite knowing this fact, it's not until he's managed to land himself in the middle of leading the reconstruction of their city that Shikamaru realizes just what lengths he's willing to go for Naruto's heart.
