Summary
"It wasn’t supposed to be a bond. It was supposed to be a brand."
When Bellatrix Lestrange carved that hateful word into Hermione Granger’s arm, a single moment of uncontrolled magic fused their souls instead of merely spilling blood. Now, the Dark Lord’s most loyal servant is haunted by the heartbeat of a 'Mudblood', and Hermione is anchored to the very woman who shattered her.
This accidental and agonizing Soul-Bond changes the course of the war, forcing a predator to guard her prey. As the distance between them screams with physical agony, Bellatrix fights the instinctual urge to protect what she was meant to destroy, while Hermione struggles to keep her sanity while feeling the dark, chaotic impulses of a madwoman.
Neither wants it. Both loathe it. There is no redemption here, and no sudden love—only a relentless, terrifying connection in a dangerous game of shadows. In a world of black and white, they are bled together in a shade of red that neither can escape, and Bellatrix must hide her greatest weakness from the one man who would kill them both for it.

Summary
Part One: Rise From the Ashes: Ch 1-11: Slow build, Hogwarts AU Years 1-7, melding canon w/ a little canon divergence in that Bellatrix, like Snape, was offered a second chance by Dumbledore and has taught at the school ever since. As the years progress and tensions build, she faces the difficult intersection of her two identities, the different parts she plays in other people's games, and the trauma of her past that often threatens to untether her entirely. Snape is still a character in the story, but Bellatrix takes on a lot of his roles/storyline in canon. As for Hermione, in her first few years, she can't help but look up to her brilliant, yet complicated professor. As she gets older, by the time she realizes her feelings have evolved into something more...it's already too late to turn away, not that she'd even want to.
Part Two: Reignite: Ch 12-?: Hermione returns to Hogwarts two years after the end of the war with Voldemort. Some things have changed, some things haven't. Bellatrix finally gets to try her hand at teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts. Attraction blooms and temptation is tested. Updates Wednesdays.

Summary
After the war, Hermione Granger helps write a rehabilitation law that promptly assigns her a wife: Bellatrix Black. They agree the marriage is strictly political, strictly temporary, and strictly useful only when convenient.
Then Hermione returns to Hogwarts to finish her seventh year with excellent grades, strong principles, and one inconvenient wife. The fact that said wife is also her Defence Against the Dark Arts professor is, according to the Ministry, a minor administrative detail.
