Summary
When Ace followed after Teach, it was alone and with a heavy heart full of anger. The weight of the anger didn’t lessen the longer he was away from his home and family. He refused to let it dim because if he did, he didn’t know if he could continue on the mission he had started.

Ace was selfish.
He wanted. Wanted not only quick fucks in storage closets when they couldn’t wait or hurriedly words only spoken at night, but slow mornings next to each other as the sun rose above the ship and soft kisses regardless of if others saw and a thousand other small and large things that he couldn’t have.
He didn’t deserve those things, he knew. He was lucky to have this much but that didn’t stop the want.
(Ace thinks he is selfish for loving Marco and wanting Marco to love him. He spirals but thankfully Marco is there to catch him.)

Summary
Steve is Becca's best friend and he watched as her younger brother grew up. The three had been close as thieves until Bucky left for the war. Becca had begged Steve to keep Bucky safe and he had tried but it wasn't enough. Bucky had slipped through his fingers when he fell from the train.
Steve carried the weight of it into the twenty-first century convinced that he should have done more to save Bucky. Steve gets the chance to save Bucky this time when he reappears as the Winter Soldier with no memories of who he is or of his past.

It had been a long couple of days. First an assassin had shot Director Fury in Steve's apartment, then he found out that Hydra was not only alive but thriving, then he had been blown up in New Jersey, and now he was being attacked on a bridge.
Steve was going to take Hydra down no matter the cost.
