“You’re Captain America.” Eli’s got his teeth clenched and is resolutely looking ahead. “You stand for truth and justice and the American way. You stand for American morals. You stand for…” he shrugs awkwardly. “Not people like me.”
Steve blows the air out of his cheeks slowly, trying to figure out how to keep the anger out of his voice so Eli doesn’t think it’s at him.

Ilya has just moved to Ottawa after signing with the Centaurs and Shane's Japanese cousin is in town. A chance for Ilya to discover yet another facet of Shane and meet the very stoic Obāchan; if Shane lets him.
-------I've always wanted to know more about Shane’s Japanese heritage. So here’s my attempt to give him a little bit more background, as well as a kimono obsession to Ilya.
While I am not Japanese myself, I have lived over 10 years in Japan, speak the language to the best of my ability, and have enjoyed summer festivities an ungodly amount over the years. I hope this story does justice to my love for Japan, its culture, and of course our two favourite fictional hockey players.
