One of the perks that came with knowing Sonic personally was being able to read him emotionally. While Sonic usually threw on a bravado of cheer and endless determined optimism, Tails was able to understand his genuine emotions much better than most.
Which was how he realized Sonic liked the quokka helping out the Conductor of the train they’d just boarded.

Summary
The comics never put much focus on the time Antoine had to spend disguised as Patch. You'd think one of the main characters of the comic would get his perspective on the situation shown more, since he'd spent an entire year with them, but instead of developing the characters of the evil twins by giving them more time to be shown, we barely see them at all with him. This story sets out to try and fill the hole that the comic left in that plotline, by showing what Antoine's experience there was actually like.

It's only natural, insecurities hardly define who someone really is, but they can still influence us in one way or another. Decision after decision with only imperfections on the mind will always bear some form of consequence- and some will inevitably have it worse than others.
There'll always be that someone, though, who accepts you for as you are. Strengths, weaknesses, faults, imperfections. A snapshot of the human condition, which hardly bears significance in their eyes. Even if, at the end of the day, you're just another face among the crowd. For Haida- that someone might just turn out to be someone unexpected.

A Blukenzie story at its core, but also a reflection of Mackenzie's character and dealing with fears in a controlled environment with tons of support from those around him- well except Bandit.
