An AU Story where Adrien never went to public school.
It’s been 4 years since Hawkmoth started terrorizing Paris. Ladybug thinks it’s time to finally embrace what she’s been feeling about her partner for so very long. On the 4th anniversary of their first battle, Chat Noir once again plans to convince his lady that it’s time that they get to know one another, behind the mask. But Ladybug herself has her own little suggestion which she’s sure Chat would gladly agree to.

Summary
Ladybug is visibly shaken, and Chat Noir finally sees how deeply she is suffering. After a heart to heart with the girl, trauma never to be spoken before is uncovered. Haunted by her emotional and physical scars she reluctantly agrees to swap Miraclouses; Ladybug becomes Lady Noir while Chat takes on being Misterbug. Through the change they figure out that maybe this is how it was supposed to be all along.

Ladybug and Cat Noir have been partners for years, not romantically, which was okay with Cat Noir (mostly) but he was content as it was. When an Akumatized villain hits him with magic that makes him need to kiss the one he loves most, who else could it be?
When Ladybug realizes who has really been there for her throughout everything, maybe she doesn't mind so much.
And when he says to imagine someone else all she can see is him.
(Technically canon divergence, but college au! They are all 21.)
