After episode 9 things have changed.
Jax is gone, but Caine is back. Some things can't be fixed, but others can.
That thought will take work and is not just done in a day, and Caine will have to struggle as he finally got the very thing he always wished for. Now, as he has his heart, he must also carry all the pains and burdens that come with it.
The others must learn to understand and accept their A.I. companion as well. It will take time... But all good things does.

It's not like Purple knows either. Did—what, did some deep, instinctual part of Purple's soul know that Red was going to save them? No, that's not true.
They had stalled for them anyway. You know, just because. Really, didn't hurt not to.
"Hah, yeah, then we just had to go and survive. Both of us," Red chuckles. The phrase trails off, before they correct it with a perky "—alive."
"Yeah," Purple agrees faintly. "Uh huh."
"What are we even gonna do?" Red asks like it's a joke (a grin in the sound of their voice) but they both know it's not.
"I don't fucking know!" Purple laughs.

"Like what?" asks Red, unable to suppress the apparent obvious smile in their voice. Obvious, because Red is so painfully obvious. Purple thinks about punching them in the face with the fervor of a raging boar.
"This is exactly what I was talking about," groans Purple, throwing their hands above their head and letting them rest there. "You're shameless, you're frustrating, you never listen to me—I can't believe I used to have a crush on you."
Purple spits out this information like it tastes impossible and disgusting, and Red is more than happy to be the one the contempt lands on.
They turn to Purple abruptly, starstruck and enthralled and bursting with a crawling warmth in the chest area—"You what?!"

“Doc,” Lime calls out from across the room. “Am I done yet? Vent’s lookin’ real safe right now.”
Huh. Blue stops writing. In most cases, the scan takes about five seconds; ten for more genetically dense patients. They check the mounted clock, then cast Lime a glance. Double huh. Considering their build — and sheer eagerness to escape — they should have been set to scurry off twenty seconds ago.
“Let me take a look,” Blue offers, crossing the floor. “There might be a problem with the machine. It’s rarely used this many times in one day.”
Or: After many attempted refusals and excessive persuasion, Lime finally gives in and agrees to get their scan. It doesn't go quite as anticipated.
