Maeve always knew there was something different about her, something off; something there in the back of her mind that she was never able to explain. It was in the way she felt so envious of Ginny when she got to be the princess whenever the two of them played pretend, the way she started crying when her mom smiled and told her she couldn't be the princess, but she could be the prince instead; it was in the way she wished in an almost painful way to be the one to wear the dresses Ginny always complained about wearing. It was in the way she looked at her mom's skirts and always wore them like dresses around the house, not realizing her older brothers and parents were laughing because they thought she was being silly or joking; in the way she always felt icky whenever they called her by the name she was given at birth.
"Ron dear" Her mom sighed fondly, at the sight of her youngest son wearing her ruffled skirt around her chest as a dress, a towel on her head to pretend to have long hair. "Please, put the skirt away"
