Summary
The West is a hardscrabble place. Lonely graveyards are full of boys who tried to make men out of themselves and died for their troubles. Charles and Arthur come across a young card player who has been shot, and asks them in his dying to take the news to his mother. The task is ostensibly easy. What's not quite as easy is facing the consequences of the outlaw life on the men and women who are trying to tame the West.

Summary
Once you reach the age of eight-teen, the name of your soulmate is written upon your skin.
When Arthur reached eight-teen, the name 'Charles Smith' in cursive appeared over his heart. A man's name. He didn't tell anyone, not even Dutch nor Hosea. It wasn't that he was ashamed. He just wasn't sure how anyone at camp would react. so he kept it to himself, and only wrote about it in his journal.
until the man himself, Charles Smith joined them at camp. It was a miracle, at least Arthur would consider it one. Many people never got to meet their soulmates, much less even shake hands with them.
