Summary
Looking from the outside, Max and Charles are the perfect pair of mates: they have been rivals in childhood, had their ups and downs until finally starting courting and getting together. Charles wouldn’t change anything about their relationship, they are racing together and fighting for their dreams so one day in the future they can settle and build a family.
The problem starts out of nowhere: Max used too much supressants to control his cycle and now that is slowly destroying the possibility of a pup. For Max, the answer is simple: he will stop racing so he can get pregnant. For Charles? Not that easy.
When Charles ambitions and stubbornness of changing his dreams get in the way of his other dream of having a pup, Max deflects their whole life to think about his future.
Charles is left alone to face a new turn of events: he finds out he has a child from someone else, and he is now the only person that the five year pup has. As the coughs die down he knows that wasn’t the last fit he’ll be having. He’s had a tickle in the back of his throat for weeks, it makes him wonder what this is about. He doesn’t get sick super often, he just hopes it’s over before the next race weekend.
