Qiji is a normal 23-year old. He is a university graduate. He got top marks, but has somehow landed himself in a less-than satisfactory position at a high-end office he despises. But he'd do anything to prove his parents wrong—this was his way of saying that he didn't need to rely on anyone to succeed. No matter what, he had to commit himself to this, for his life to have substance.
That is when an unfortunate incident leads to him being haunted by a 'vengeful spirit' trapped inside of a book.

Lan Wangji has seen those features before, only the last time he did, they looked entirely human, and that—that’s surprising.

Wei WuXian walked through what he assumed were the Cloud Recesses. There had been no one to greet him or escort him, and so he only hoped he wouldn’t get lost. When he found a small trail, he rationalized that it ought to lead somewhere people would be.
He was right.
In a sense.
Before him, stood a man as pale as marble with features that looked to be carved by the most skilled hands standing in a pool of water, and that was only from his view of the man’s back. At his small gasp, the man had heard him, and turned slightly, revealing a face no mortal or god could hope to carve to such perfection. It was almost intimidating in its beauty, and Wei WuXian took a step back.
“I’m sorry! I wasn’t… peeping. I’m the sacrifice offered to the water god? Well… my sister was, but she was in love with another man, so I took her place. If I could just explain this to the water god so he could understand. Would you happen to know where I could find him? -
