Astarion knows exactly how unpleasant a death that was, and how merciful a few confused and terrified moments in Cazador's boudoir would be by comparison. Summary
Cazador gently brushed the tip of the needle from Vallyr’s knuckle to his nail. “I’ll do you a favor, Bhaalspawn. I’ll teach you to create something beautiful without ruining the canvas, like a true artist.”
Vallyr considered it a point of pride that he didn’t start screaming until the third needle.

Summary
After defeating the Elder Brain, Astarion abandons Tav, who has rejected becoming his spawn, and returns to Cazador's palace to claim his new kingdom.One year later, Tav—who now lives in Neverwinter—runs into him at a grand banquet hosted by the local lord. Although Tav tries to keep their old feelings in check, Astarion decides he won't let them slip away again.
