"He turned Asterius’ words over and over in his head, all through that escape attempt and the next. It stayed in the back of his mind with all the insistence of a numbskull’s bite. The idea had been vague, before, nothing but an indulgent fantasy. Theseus and Asterius’ untouchable rule as champions had been one of the many inscrutable laws of his father’s domain, as mysterious to him as to all the denizens of the realm. But now, he knew the rules, and all he could think of was how he might break them."
In which Zagreus questions why Theseus and Asterius are still champions despite how often he's beaten them, and recruits Patroclus to aid him in a mission to knock them off their perch. He just hopes that he can keep his growing feelings for both Achilles and Patroclus hidden until the fight is won...
