Summary
Christopher starts shaking more violently then. “Buck jumped back in the water for me.”
There’s a protocol for a lot of scenarios, both in the Army and as an EMT. Eddie is used to knowing what to do, and how to do it; who to help, and where. Yet now, hopelessness splits through him like a bullet. Eddie doesn’t know what else to do other than hold his kid tighter and press his lips to his temple.
“Is that– Christopher?” Hen asks over his shoulder. The tiny pocket of universe that he’s created with just him, his son, and Buck’s name battering in his chest unravels.
Still keeping Christopher in his arms, Eddie rises to his feet. “I made Buck watch him for the day to get him out of the house. He– he brought him to the pier.”
“Where is he, Eddie?” Bobby asks carefully.
There’s a protocol for a lot of scenarios, both in the Army and as an EMT, but not for this.

Buck doesn’t know what to say other than, “Help.”
Buck's running late to work when he finds the baby on his doorstep, and that pretty much sums up this portion of his life. Now he must figure out what to do, how to do it, and why doing it with Eddie gives him a feeling he can’t shake.

Summary
Bobby would like the record to state that he did not intend to be this much of an asshole about it. Quite frankly, it had been an unforeseeable turn of events completely out of his control as long as you ignored the fact he had done it on purpose and enjoyed every second of it. Alec stops, forcing Magnus to stop too. Magnus squints at him, seeing double, but Alec shakes his head. “Magnus, I do.”

“Because,” says Alec, and once again, Magnus feels the tug of magic kneading at his skin, a string of fate that wraps around his bottom rib and leads beyond his chest and enters Alec’s in exactly the same place. “You and me, we always find our way back to each other. Whatever happens.” ]
