Taking the stage felt like going home. The comfort of stripping off all outer layers and just doing what felt familiar with no shits given for who watched. Ashton ran their fingers down their bass. It was a piece of art just as much as his crust jacket and pants. A teal base, covered in stickers and paint, a smooth neck and new strings. She played the opening sting and greeted the crowd with a near deafening screech.
“Hey.” Sally pushed her black mop of crazy hair away from her pale face, greeting the crowd as the lead vocalist should. “We’re the Nobodies. And if you don’t know who we are; Good.”

Caleb notes his tail thumping on the water-slicked stones and has to hold back a noise at how fucking cute that is. It’s also easier to focus on that than it is to focus on the fact that he’s shed his shirt entirely. He must have intended to actually get in, but gave up on the buttons on his leggings and settled for being half-naked and soaking his feet.
After a moment of composing himself further, he continues. “Ah… I remember how much you liked massages after long fights. I suppose I am not quite the expert those two at the Pillow Trove were, but I did give some of the best back massages in the Academy if you ask Astrid and Wulf.” He’s unbearably awkward. He knows it. It’s never really bothered his present company, as he recalls.

Summary
Eames had worked countless jobs with Arthur over the years, enough that he had long since picked up on Arthur's on-job habits. Long hours, little sleep, too much work shoved into too little time- that's just what Arthur was like on jobs. The Fischer job felt...different though. Arthur didn't usually start jobs looking this tired or worn down, and his insistence that he was fine didn't usually ring this hollow. It was worrying, and Arthur's increasingly unconvincing reassurances weren't doing much to help.
Everyone in extraction had their limits, even Arthur. And Eames knew he was getting close to seeing what those limits really were.

“He’s dangerous to us, even,” Eames insists. “I don’t think there’s anything that’s going to stop him.”
“That’s what we said about you, too,” Yusuf says, grabbing a champagne flute from a passing server and downing it in one go. “Look at you now.”
