Even from the walkway, Mel can hear the click of heels on the lacquered teak deck. The wind picks up and rustles a stylish teal dress as the woman, carrying a tray with two rocks glasses of a dark liquor, comes to lean on the handrail next to the pretty man.
She’s beautiful. Curvy. Shiny russet hair in a neat bun, decorated with turquoise-capped pins. Her eyes are a glittery jade, directed straight at Mel along with her bright, blank smile.
“And,” Ambessa adds, noisily clapping Mel on the shoulder, “she’s for you.”
