Objectively speaking, I should have been freaking out. Freaking out was a skill I was quite practiced in, and waking up in an actively-on-fire city surrounded by monsters after being hit by an actual truck seems like it would be the kind of thing that freaked me out.
I’d woken up with the distinct knowledge that I was dead and in hell. I had no idea what I’d done to earn hell, frankly. I hadn’t even gotten a speeding ticket in years.
I saw a dilapidated high rise with surprisingly new looking neon lettering proclaiming it to be the “Hazbin Hotel.” Atop one of the corners, some kind of red structure looked like it had been duct taped to the wall, except with scaffolding, and there was a dim sign I could just about make out as reading “ON AIR.”
“Huh,” I said, curiosity piquing properly for the first time since I’d died.
I shrugged. “Fuck it.”
