Summary
“I tried to make sure it didn’t happen, I promise you, Robbie.” Buck placed a hand over his heart. “I said the tradition was stupid, that nobody should have to kiss under the mistletoe if they don’t want to, but it didn’t help at all! Hen, Ravi, and Chimney wouldn’t stop egging us on.”
[...]
“Shit,” she whispered to herself. “Shit.”
“So I turned to Eddie to apologize, to tell him I had really done everything possible to stop this from happening, because, as you already know and as I’ve told you before, Eddie is straight” Maddie was still trying to turn off the monitor but couldn’t help a snort at that comment “and before I could say anything… Eddie kissed me!”
“Shit!”
or; the fic where Buck vents about what happened at the station, Maddie listened to it unintentionally, Chimney is added to the equation and Eddie shows up at the Buckley-Han house with a mission to turn everyone's lives upside down.

Summary

Determined to prove he’s not a walking fire hazard, Buck shows up at Station 118 with cookies… and then keeps showing up. Now there’s a judgmental cat, unsolicited baking advice, cosmic bowling, and way too much eye contact. Can a flustered baker and a teasing firefighter fall in love, one cookie at a time?

Summary
The silence on the other end sharpens.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Buck snaps.
Eddie flinches. “Nothing. I—”
“No, come on, say it. What does that mean, Eddie?” Buck pushes, voice rising.
He feels trapped, like the walls are closing in, like he’s been backed into a corner with no way out. His palms feel sweaty, chest rising and falling too fast, too shallow, like there’s not enough air in the room.
He’s angry.
He’s hurt.
He’s confused.
He’s jealous. It’s too much all at once, emotion piling on top of emotion with nowhere to go.
And it keeps coming.
And. And. And.
His body is trembling under the weight of everything he can’t say, everything he didn’t know until now.
“I’m just saying,” Eddie starts, “it’s only been a couple of weeks and now you’re fucking Tommy Kinard in my bedroom—”
“It’s not your bedroom anymore,” Buck cuts in, his voice sharp. “You made sure of that, when you left.”
Or; 8x11 coda

Summary
Buck knew the universe wasn’t really a huge fan of him. But this? This was a new low.
The last two weeks of working with Eddie Diaz had been a special type of hell. Of course, while he’d been out of work nearly dying several times, Bobby had managed to replace him with the hottest, most competent probie that ever graduated the Academy. And of course, he hated Buck.
Which was good, because Buck hated him right back.

In a world where everyone's timing is just a little off, Buck and Eddie take a few more missteps on the way to finding each other.

Summary
“So we’re into dudes now?”
Eddie tries not to let the amusement show on his face as he watches this weird version of Buck size him up. It’s reminiscent of their first meeting. Buck had acted like a complete idiot (he’d thought it was because he was threatened, but years later Buck will now finally admit it was because he wanted to fuck Eddie so bad it made him stupid). He’s got that same bratty look and attitude now.
“We’ve always been into guys, you just haven’t realized it yet.” Buck (3.0? Or is it 4.0 now?) says. Eddie’s not sure what model they’ve upgraded to at this point, but that doesn’t matter. His Buck, current-Buck, husband-Buck is speaking.
“Are you gay?” 1.0—that’s what Eddie’s taken to calling him in his mind—asks, a disgruntled look on his face. He’s actually quite cute. Smaller and leaner than the Buck Eddie first met when he started at the 118, he kind of reminds Eddie of a puppy. “Because I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this,” he waggles his eyebrows obnoxiously. “I really like women.”
“Bi.” Buck (husband-Buck) corrects, he’s got his arms crossed over his chest, defensive.
or,
Buck 1.0 time travels to a future where he and Eddie are married—everyone is handling it well.

Summary
“I’ll come by in the afternoon,” Eddie says. “And I’m sure everyone else will be visiting soon, too.”
Buck lets his head tip back against the pillow, staring up at the ceiling for a beat before shaking his head. “I can’t expect people to keep coming to see me while I just… sit around.” Buck mutters. Then his gaze flicks to Eddie, something weighted in the way he looks at him. “You don’t have to come see me, either.”
Eddie just stares at him, unimpressed.
The thing about Buck is, he gets in his own head too much. Thinks he’s a burden when he isn’t.
It’s a habit Eddie wishes he could break for him.
“Stop being a martyr,” he says and rolls his eyes. “I like spending time with you.”
Something shifts in Buck’s expression, subtle and unguarded. His eyes soften and turn glassy in the dim light, and for a second, Eddie forgets what he was even saying.
Then Buck exhales, small and quiet. “Okay.”
Or; Eddie visits Buck while he’s in the hospital.

Summary
“Is that what you’ve been up to while I've been gone?”
There’s no judgement, just curiosity in his voice. But for some reason Buck still finds himself saying: “No. Just a movie I was watching. Had me thinking about Buck 1.0.”
He doesn't know why he lied. But he doesn’t know how to say, ‘I exchanged blowjobs with a stranger forty-five minutes ago’, and have it not matter. Have it not change the tone of the conversation. He doesn’t want to put it into words that that’s what he did and then right after he called Eddie. It feels like something he shouldn’t admit to.

Summary
Buck skidded to a halt, horror etched across his face. “Ed-Eddie,” he stammered. “Please, just… I’ll block his number, I’ll delete the thread, just… Stop scrolling and give me my phone. Please.”
“Relax Buck,” Eddie retorted, rolling his eyes at him while still scrolling. “I may not be great with technology but I know how to block a conta—” and proceeded to choke on his own tongue.
Suddenly, it all fell into place: why Buck was so adamant about getting his phone back, why he didn't want Eddie to keep scrolling.
Because in Eddie Diaz’s hand was a picture of his best friend on his knees, dick in hand. His piercing blue eyes glancing up at the camera like they were looking right at him.

Summary
Buck knows three things.
1. Sex with Tommy wasn't all that good. Buck had rarely enjoyed it, and now he wonders if he's even into guys to that degree. He was sure, but he isn't so much anymore. Bisexuality is still new, and it feels right, but Buck wants to be certain.
2. Buck needs a reference. A single fling to compare and figure out if he enjoys sex with men. That's alright, he thinks. It's not like Buck has any plans on returning to his 1.0 phase, he just needs one hookup.
3. Eddie is kind of, likely, possibly (?) cockblocking him. Which... is all kinds of confusing.
Or
When Buck and Tommy break up, Buck decides to figure out his bisexuality some more. Eddie makes it difficult, not just due to sabotage but also because Buck can't stop thinking of Salt 'n Peppa's Whatta Man whenever he looks at his best friend. And if that song also caused the breakup then that's no one's business.

Summary
Diaz gets right up in his face and wow, his eyes are even more beautiful up close.
“You can endanger yourself as much as you want if you’ve got a death wish, but you don’t get to put your team or the people we are trying to save on the line.”
Then he’s turning on his heels and storming away.
And look, Buck will be pissed off about it later, how Diaz thought he could just walk up to Buck and spit him out like that, but right now he’s got a perfect view of Diaz’s ass as he walks away and his upper brain immediately stops working because fuck, what an ass. Buck really wants to get his hands on it and squeeze.
Too bad the guy it’s attached to is a bit of a dick.
OR
Probational Firefighters Evan “Buck” Buckley and Eddie Diaz meet on a call which ends with them at odds with each other.
As the months roll by, they keep running into each other on the job, much to Eddie’s dismay and Buck’s delight.
Can they put aside their first opinions and misunderstandings and allow the seeds of friendship, and possibly something more, to take root?

Summary
“What do you want me to say, Eddie?” he asks quietly, and his voice trips on the words. He lifts an eyebrow and shrugs with a chuckle that sounds so cold it freezes Eddie from the inside out. The edge of his smile slices them both open, and Eddie knows it’s his fault, and he can’t tell which one of them gets cut deeper.
“I want you to tell me if I’m doing the right thing,” he says. “I want you to tell me if this is a mistake.”
“No,” Buck says immediately. “You’re doing the right thing. You should go.”

"Come on, Buck. Let it out. I hate this, too. I hate leaving you. Tell me how much you hate it. Yell at me, Buck. Come on, yell at me,” he begs.
Buck snaps. He pushes off the couch and crowds into Eddie’s space.
“Is this what you wanted?” He spits, pushing hard enough against Eddie’s chest that he takes a step backwards. “Hmm? You want me to lose it on you?”
Or, Eddie cannot handle Buck pretending to be fine about his move to Texas. He, in fact, refuses to let him.

“Look,” Eddie says, voice steady in a way that sounds forced, “if you don’t feel the same way—”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Buck interrupts, good hand in the air to say stop. “I didn’t say that. I just don’t think it’s the right time.”
Eddie lets out a slow, controlled breath. His jaw twitches. “You almost died. Again. When’s the right time? At your funeral?”

Summary
After Christopher comes back from Texas, Eddie makes an important decision: he is not going to blow up his life anymore. He will not be making mistakes, he will not be screwing up, he will not be having emotional affairs with the doppelgänger of his dead wife. He is going to be logical. Make good decisions. Use the strategies he’s learned in therapy even though he’s complained to Frank a million times that breathing exercises only piss him off more. Still, he’ll do them, because he is a logical, rational person. Or, at least, he is from now on.

It takes Buck longer than it should to notice. Which - okay, sure, he’s oblivious about certain things even on the best of days, and he got struck by lightning less than a month ago, so maybe he should give himself a break. But still, it feels like something he should have noticed, so he ends up feeling pretty stupid for not noticing.
Since Buck woke up in the hospital, Eddie’s stopped touching him.

Summary
They finished their workout without any interruptions and other than the odd look Eddie gave Buck, he didn't ask why Buck was so distracted and Buck was grateful. He didn’t even know how to explain to the other man that he had beef with a green owl who had been supposedly helping him for the last few months with his spanish. No, that was not a conversation he was ready to have. Plus it would spoil the whole point of him learning spanish in the first place.
