Due to Shockwave being absent Knockout is forced to used the cortical psychic patch to scope Ratchet's mind for anything Shockwave had missed. Unfortunately Ratchet fought back hard, and showed Knockout stuff that was uselessto the decepticons but useful to Knockout. In the process Knockout developed a crush on him because he's a dork. Now Knockout has to deal with the guilt of letting Breakdown legacy and memory go to scrap while keeping his oblivious crush from killing himself.
