    The country is splitting open in places the law refuses to see.

    Mikha has long stopped believing justice can be begged for. In the mountains, known only by her movement name, she teaches recruits to ask why before they ever learn to carry a rifle.

    Aiah Arceta still believes the law can protect people from power, even when that power carries her father’s name.

    When an Arceta convoy is intercepted in Bataan, Aiah and her assistant Maloi are taken to a guerrilla camp meant to expose the company’s crimes. Mikha expects another corporate lawyer trained to defend the men who took everything from her. Aiah expects a terrorist with no use for truth.

    Neither is prepared for the person on the other side.

    Between testimony, captivity, and the slow unraveling of every certainty they inherited, the line between enemy and beloved begins to blur.
