Shinji blinked, his breath catching. “A-ah—” He couldn’t even form a proper response. His heart raced at the implication, his mind scrambling to find a safe interpretation. “Wh-what do you mean by… ‘help’?”
Kaworu’s lips curved faintly, not quite a smile but something that carried the same intent. “To sit with you beneath the stars, or remain by your side until the night feels less heavy. If that is not enough…” His tone softened further, almost coaxing.
