When Miranda burst through the halls of her office, she knew she needed to get rid of her second assistant. Before all the gods she knew, she swore that the girl was even more useless than she ever thought possible.
She thought that hiring a girl who actually went to school would somehow bring up the very low bar of competence set by the assistants she’s had before. Obviously she had been wrong, and she needed to remedy the fatal mistake. Miranda’s resolve was steel, the incompetence staining the office by her mere presence would be gone by noon.
The gossip rags had one thing right about the editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine, she could destroy anyone who would dare to breathe wrong.

Suddenly Andy's entire being felt like a live wire; raw and delicate and dangerous. The sparks that danced across her skin felt like lightening strikes down her spine, and when she looked at Miranda the wanting in her eyes was enough to drown in.

Miranda's voice was huskier than before, rougher, hungrier. She crossed her arms as she waited expectantly, like she knew without a single doubt that Andy would follow her instructions to the ends of the earth if only to jump off into the abyss.
Swallowing thick in her throat, Andy dropped to her knees, the hard marble flooring borderline painful underneath her shins as she shifted her weight in an attempt to be more comfortable.
It dawned on her that the point of this position wasn't to be comfortable; it was to think about her place.
To think about how Miranda was showing her where she belonged.
