Summary
Aurora van Manius has worked hard and fought tooth and nail to rise through the ranks in the army of the Republic of Garlemald. Born as a commoner, her chances of making it to the top had been slim, but she beat every odd, making herself a name as a fearsome and ruthless Legatus. Someone no one dares to question anymore. No one but one fast-rising, obnoxious soldier under her command who seems intent on not only questioning her authority but provoking her at every opportunity. The problem? Solus rem Galvus comes from a noble house with enough influence to actually threaten her hard-won position, and he makes no secret about wanting her job.

Summary
Irene has not lived an easy life. From the moment she had joined the Scions she had tried her best to live up to their ideals. Not an easy feat at all for someone who is easy to anger and tends to leap into danger with no regard for safety at all. She figured out quickly that no one appreciates it when she's simply herself, but being what they want her to be is a constant, uphill battle.
And then there is this Ascian who looks at her with an inviting smile and murderous eyes. She doesn't trust him one bit, but his ideas for getting her attention might be just enough to get under her skin and ruin all her hard work. Or maybe, they just ruin her.

Summary
Freyja has always been two people: the woman on the stage, and the one who retreats the moment the curtain falls. He was the first person to notice the difference.
The Emperor of Garlemald is not a man who takes an interest without a reason, and his reasons are never what they appear to be. He is older than his empire. He is older than most things. And he has been looking for her, in one form or another, for longer than anyone mortal could imagine.
Some loves are real precisely because they are impossible to keep. Some losses cannot be undone, only carried forward into the next life, and the one after that. What begins as patronage becomes obsession. What begins as obsession becomes the only real thing in a very long life.
In the end, that is precisely the problem.

Summary
Valinor was every bit as beautiful as the songs promised.
Its streets glittered with the dust of diamonds, gleaming under the radiant light of a sun that shone brighter, purer over the hallowed lands than it ever had over Middle-earth. The peaks of the Pelori, soaring and snowcapped, loomed pristine in the distance, mocking her with every glimpse. These were not mountains that had ever known the tread of an orc's foot, nor suffered spilt blood or harrowed screams. Even the sands of Eldamar were white and silken underfoot, nothing like the abrading grit of the beaches of Belfalas where her mother had once reigned.
Celebrían hated it.
