Ilya knew that Cliff and his other friends wanted to convince him to celebrate his birthday together, but he had no intention of giving in, given that he had already made another very important commitment: he had found the courage to invite Shane to his house for his birthday and, against all his expectations, he had accepted.

Summary
Shane speaks slowly. “Being with you … is emotional for me.”
Ilya takes in breath. Shane’s life is better now, and sleeping with Ilya again probably makes him think of the sad times before he met Rose. Okay, Ilya can roll with that. He can give Shane a good enough time that he forgets the negative memories he associates with Ilya. He voices this: “I will take care of you.”
Silence. But Shane still hasn’t run away, which isn’t nothing.
Instead of publically breaking up, Shane and Rose continue a fake relationship. (Temporary) Heartbreak for Ilya and Shane ensues.

A half naked Shane stares doe eyed at the camera, his cheeks flushed, his dark hair askew. He’s laying on a bed, the sheets beneath him artfully tangled, wearing only some branded underwear. And most scandalous of all, his muscular chest is covered in ruby red kisses.
“Fuck,” Ilya swears under his breath.
It’s like his worst nightmare and most delicious daydream has come to life.
