    Summary

It shouldn't be a surprise, really, if the knights think punching each other in the arm is a viable and efficient way of cheering each other up, that they also think insulting each other is a perfectly good way to show affection. Insults are compliments, threats are reassurances, and actual bodily harm is considered good manners or at the very least the mark of genuine companionship. Basically, take everything Merlin's ever been taught about how you actually treat the people you care about and flip it on its head, because stars know that if any one of these men actually behave as though being nice won't incinerate them, the world will actually end.

Alright, maybe he's being a bit harsh.

Now alone, Merlin continues to work towards the goal of peaceful magical integration, but he also has to work to find his place again amongst the knights and Arthur. „M-Merlin?“, Gaius stammered, sounding like he was on the verge of a heart attack.
    „Yes?“, asked Merlin, puzzled.
Gaius nearly fell off his chair.
    „Merlin, I can’t see you!“, he shouted.
„What do you mean you can’t see me? I‘m right here“, Merlin replied. „Maybe you need to get your glasses checked, they aren’t working properly.“
„Merlin, look down at your hands!“
Merlin did. Or rather he tried. Because he found that he couldn’t look at his own hands because there were no hands to look at. His hands were still there because he could feel them and one of them was holding up his spoon. It was just that they weren’t there.

Or: Merlin turns himself invisible by accident and finally gets to see Arthur freaking out about him missing in all his emotionally constipated glory.

“What in the seven hells was that?” Leon exclaimed. Arthur watched Percival with a steady gaze.

“Growing up we called them Face Thieves,” said Percival with a grimace. “Awful creatures that take the form of the dead to steal the souls of the living. Face Thieves often target people that they can sense the most grief and sorrow in. It makes for easy prey.”

What was meant to be a simple quest to retrieve the ring of dispel turns sinister as Arthur, Merlin, and the knights venture deep into the Caves of Crasmere where they are hunted by spirits intent on stealing their souls.

    Summary

"Half of her is Arthur." The dragon spoke calmly, which didn't match the slight curling of its mouth at all. It made Merlin uneasy. "And the other half..."

"Is her mother?" Merlin figured, not really seeing why the dragon was actually grinning now.

That was how children worked, no? One half father, the other half mother. That's how they were made. But the dragon made Merlin rethink his assumption as apparently, he seemed to be very, very wrong.

"The other half is magic." The dragon waited for Merlin to react, but the young warlock didn't. With a disappointed huff, he added, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, "Half of her is you, Merlin. You are magic."

That did not add up on so many levels. And yet, Merlin didn't know how to contradict the dragons' statement. His vision blurred, his heart racing out of control.

    "I... I'm a mother now?!"

    "Merlin, no-"

Or: Merlin doesn't remember becoming a father, but oh well, he's wrong. And Arthur, of all people, seems to be his co-parent.
