This fic is half watching the dark sides bitch to each other about the show they don't get to be in. The other half is the story of season one from the perspective of the subconscious as they react to changes in Thomas' mind and Anxiety; as he comes to terms with the turbulent relationships he has with the Sides he grew up with—yet can barely consider friends, and reconsiders what future he wants, what he owes to the past and whether this is what he deserves.

Anyone can see Michael's in a bad state, despite all the progress he's made in taking better care of himself. Lilith knows full well why. She knows she could help, if not for his sake, then for the kingdom his fraying mind is a permanent threat to.
God's Grace doesn't extend down here, but she's here.
Perhaps Lilith should have guessed, she was biting off more than she could chew, when he decayed twice as fast in a year than Lucifer did in the 7 he went without her grace. Perhaps she isn't as much an expert on angels as she thought.

On a 'mandatory work break,' Michael's reconnecting with his twin after eons of silence. Which has meant staying full time in Hell for 18 months and counting; and tolerating the self-proclaimed 'god' his brother happened to be married and deeply devoted to, who will not stop eyeing him up like a piece of meat.They get along fine by now. She won't try anything. He can do this, for his brother.
He's never been separated from his Father this long. He might be starting to feel it.

Parts of Thomas or not, it's certainly unrealistic (and probably a bit unfair as well) to expect all of the Sides to immediately like him, just because he and Thomas were dating.
If Janus doesn't like him, then that's alright. Nico can deal. But more than anything, he wants to know if there's a reason why.or the one in which janus is Very Stubborn when it comes to liking nico, and nico is Equally Stubborn when it comes to finding out why—not to mention, winning him over.

But you don’t have time to contemplate the consequences of that realization. There’s an agonizingly familiar, piercing pain in your chest; then everything goes dark, and you die.

The first soul to enter Heaven, the standard of what good actions do and look like.” He turns to the discarded pile, grabbing on to a piece and pulling.
A limb disconnects from a fractured body, edge still having the remnants of strings clutching to it.
He points at Mike, holding a puppet arm in his hand, the gesture mimicked on the false appendage.
“Calling what I did treason means I went against another person’s trust or confidence. But last I checked, you’re no person.”
