“Lastly,” A little self-satisfied half-smile, not unlike the ones the Princess was known for, appeared on Alicent’s face. “Tell no man of The Woman Maester.”

"I thought you were the smart brother." He lowered his voice to a whisper. "Were you a girl, Father would have used you as a bargaining chip. You would’ve been married off to some high lord, or a knight, or..." He snorted. “Perhaps even the king.”
Alyn thought of King Viserys, his bent posture, his thin, sparse white hair and his sickly complexion. He shivered.

It should’ve been simpler. It should’ve been Gwayne standing by his side awaiting the king and princess. But no, he just had to go and become a knight. Now he had a second son by the name of Ser Alistair.
