Lizzie wasn’t a stranger to harboring crushes on people. Far from it - it was very common for Lizzie to find her affections set on someone for a while. She often didn’t approach them - no, she liked to deal with her crushes in the same way that she dealt with most things in her life: she wrote them a letter and never sent them.
There were five love letters total.
1. Rafael from Camp.
2. Hope from 7th grade.
3. Jed from Homecoming.
4. MG from Model UN.
5. And… Sebastian, her ex-boyfriend.And she’d kept those letters because Lizzie likes the reminder of how powerful her emotions can be, how consuming. People would tell her she’s being dramatic; she actually thinks drama can be fun.

Lizzie extended her right hand to the girl in front of her, but this girl with the shining auburn hair and dark blue eyes only stared down at it… with an expression that she didn’t know what to make of.
What she did know was the feeling of… ache, like acid, spreading on her chest as the girl looked up at her again, and simply said, “I'm Hope.” Her hand was still there hanging, waiting for this girl to just take it, though she didn’t make any attempt to as she finished saying, “I’m not a student here… I just got lost.”

Hope doesn’t so much climb out of the pit of sleep so much idly trudge in the vague direction of wakefulness. Just having the option to do so — no alarm to yank her abruptly out of slumber — feels like the epitome of decadent luxury, yet some sense of disquiet still dogs her every step of the way. She doesn’t manage to identify it until she’s almost awake.
Lizzie isn’t in the bed next to her.
Or: Hope's taking Lizzie home to New Orleans, despite the fact that they've only actually been going out a few weeks. But everything's going to go well, she's sure of it.

Okay, Lizzie can do this. She can totally be the supportive shoulder Hope needs right now.

Or: When Landon sees Lizzie and Hope coming out from under the table in Episode 2x06, he does not, in fact, assume they're just being friends. Hope runs with it. Lizzie puts up with the situation with varying degrees of grace.

“I know how sirebonds work,” Hope sharply clarified then, her jaw clenching as she fought the urge to bring more light into it; they hadn’t spoken about that, and she was fine with it. “And that wasn’t my fault.”
It wasn’t her fault.
Hope was well aware of the many things that she was to blame for and that she’d carried on her shoulders all her life, things that she thankfully couldn’t feel anymore, but this wasn’t one of them.
It wasn’t –
“Yes, it was.” Lizzie’s whisper was quiet but sharper than hers, as Hope’s eyes shifted back to the blonde’s fingers on the wheel, gripping more at it, “I told you so.”

No Humanity Hope is in denial about her true feelings for Lizzie, but the more she tries to push it away, the more she realizes how deep she might be into her denial.

Summary
When it came down to it, emotions were really just chemical. And Hope was the all powerful tribrid. It wasn't particularly difficult to keep the unwanted emotions off and turn back on the ones she wanted. Satisfaction, pleasure, etc. It was more fun that way. And now that Lizzie was bonded to her fun was definitely something she was looking forward to having. After all, it wasn't like Lizzie Saltzman had never made a bad decision or three.
