Summary
Jiang Cheng wakes slowly to the feeling of spiritual energy swimming through his veins. Not just swimming. Singing. Flooding. He was filled with it. He didn't know if it was because he had been without any for so long or if Baoshan Sanren had chosen to make him stronger, but he had never felt so powerful in his life. It was glorious. It was everything. He felt alive again. Whole. Better than whole. He had to thank her. He had to scream his joy across the mountain. He was so infinitely grateful.
He ripped off his blindfold, turned to look around him, praises and gratitude resting on the tip of his tongue. Yet what his eyes rested on was a face he never expected to see. His joy and gratitude instantly snuffed into ashes in his mouth. His eyes widened in horror at the sight which greeted him. He wished he could take everything back. Every thought which had passed through his mind since he'd woken.
How could this happen?

Summary
Jiang Fengmian walked into the Burial Mounds. Wei Wuxian hadn't restricted his access. Perhaps he hadn’t thought he'd needed to.
If Jiang Fengmian was not plagued with grief and muddied with vengeance, if he was better at making deductions, seeing little observations, he would have wondered why that was.
He did not.
"What did you... want to talk to me about?" A-Xian's eyes were curious, calm, trusting, slightly confused.
He truly seemed to have no idea why he would be there.
The thought made him furious.
In one swift move, he brought his sword-point to rest against his heart, his other hand holding his skinny shoulder in place.
"Do not insult me by pretending you don't know why."

Summary
It starts with Lan Wangji holding a whip in the snow.
Of a determination Lan Qiren sees on his face. An expression he knows all too well. Lan Qiren’s threat won't stop him. It’s barely made him pause. The boy doesn't sit in repentance, but in relief. There is a confident, defiant warmth in his eyes which seems to melt the snow around him and set the whip ablaze upon his palms.
His nephew would disobey him. Of this, Qiren is sure.
He would find a way to return to that demon which ensnared him; and perhaps next time he goes, he would not get him back. Either that demon kills him, or ensnares him into his wicked ways.
Lan Qiren would not stand for it. Something had to be done...before it was too late. Too late to save Wangji... Too late to save his clan from the slow encroach of evil which that demon has wrought upon their world.
He would not stand by again and let another Wen sect rise up and claim the lives of the ones he loved. He would not repeat his mistake again.
This time, it will be he who acts first.

“Jin Ling!” Wei Wuxian calls out, a tenor of fear in his voice.
“What?” Jin Ling groused, still trying to concentrate on a clue Wei Wuxian had pointed out in the village.
“D-dog!” Wei Wuxian screamed, sounding even more terrified.
Jin Ling rolled his eyes again, not bothering to turn around, even when his uncle was shaking his arm frantically.
“How are you not used to Fairy yet?! I told you! Fairy wouldn’t hurt you unless I said so! Stop being so scared!”
“Jin Ling!” Wei Wuxian called out, more frantic this time, and accompanied by a whine of fear from the back of his throat.
Jin Ling rolled his eyes again and stood from his crouched position. He slowly started to turn around whilst asking “what?! You’re so annoyi…” but he didn’t get any further.

A small transgression has been made against the Lan sect, and Wei Wuxian in particular, though the person who did it couldn't have known. The juniors, however, take it very seriously. Wei Wuxian doesn't understand how seriously, or how much his tendency to adopt juniors from various sects at every opportunity has affected said juniors.
