“How close are you to your heat?” Sukuna asks then, his voice lower than it was just moments ago. He’s not moving anymore, Megumi’s injury momentarily forgotten as they stare at each other, a different type of tension filling the space between their bodies.
Megumi’s suddenly acutely aware that he’s half-naked. And that Sukuna’s dangerously close to that one place where Megumi’s scent is the strongest.
“It shouldn’t be more than four days away,” Megumi murmurs, trying to ignore the way his heart races inside his chest. He wonders, for a moment, as the time stills around them, if he’s in over his head, if he’s digging his own grave by being this close to an Alpha whose motives he has no way of knowing. If Sukuna lunged for him now and sunk his teeth into Megumi’s neck, there would be nothing Megumi could do to stop him.
