Summary
As a general rule, Cassie did her best not to get drunk. She generally tried to stay away from alcohol as much as possible, so it was unfortunate for her that Lia’s main goal when it came to girls’ nights⎼⎼although she never explicitly stated it⎼⎼was to get Cassie and/or Sloane drunk.

Summary
"Anytime it gets to be too much, Sadie, just pretend it's not you."
Lia is fine. Her arm doesn't burn, she didn't collapse into Michael's arms in the hallway, and it doesn't break her entire heart to watch him hold someone else exactly the way he just held her.
She slips out of the trauma just as easily as she slips out of a dress.

Summary
In the quiet, suffocating aftermath of a brutal case, the crushing weight of survivor's guilt rests heavily on Michael. Sitting on the front steps in the dark, he finds himself being comforted by the least - or the most, depending on how you look at it - expected person. Stripping away her usual armor of indifference, Lia forces him to pull himself together for the sake of the team, resulting in a rare, raw moment of vulnerability.

Summary
"So, are we off-again?"
Michael asks it casually, as if it wouldn't mean anything to him if they were. And these days, Lia finds herself worrying more and more that it doesn't.
Lia Zhang is a master of deception, but she’s also apparently a masochist who went and fell for an emotion reader. Trapped alone in the house just three days after returning from the Celine case in New York, a bitter confrontation quickly spirals out of control as old wounds are ripped open and venomous low blows are traded.

Summary
“Stop talking like you know what I need. You don't know me," she snapped, her voice dripping with venom. "You don’t even know my name.”
Michael froze. Her name?
“Your name,” he began slowly, carefully watching her face, “is Lia.”
“Wrong,” she hissed, scrambling off the bed. She snatched her discarded brown sweater from the floor and pulled it violently over her head. “You know what? This was a mistake. You’re a mistake.”
Michael tried to be delicate. It wasn't normally in his nature—especially not with her—but if the situation was what he thought it was, it desperately called for it. And he wasn't built for delicacy.
