War God!” Luo Binghe unsheathes Zheng Yang, pointing the gleaming blade at Liu Qingge with a toothy feral grin. “This Lord has come to challenge you.”
Despite craving a good fight, Liu Qingge doesn’t leap at him immediately though he does unsheathe Cheng Luan. The demon’s behaving strangely—stranger than unusual, holding himself differently—enough that he doubts for a moment if that’s really him. There are shape-shifting demons after all and Luo Binghe had warned him of his less savoury doppelganger, but then Luo Binghe breaks out into a big dopey smile, intimidating demon Lord aura temporarily shattered and mock-whispers, “It’s me Shishu, I’m just pretending.”
Pretending? Why would he-
Shizun calls it ‘role-playing’
Liu Qingge scowls. “What are you doing?”
“Challenging you.” He repeats, slipping back into his act.
“Ridiculous.” Liu Qingge sighs, brandishes Cheng Luan. “What do you want?”
Luo Binghe grins wolfishly and looks him up and down, gaze heavy as a caress. “You.”
Liu Qingge turns away, face burning. “Shameless.”

Summary
If he knew Shen Qingqiu’s body could be a vessel for a potential kind spirit he would have kept it intact.
Though, nothing is stopping him from just going back. He’ll give himself a scar, hide Xin Mo, even act like the simpering fool that kind Shizun wants, just long enough to get into his bed and sate the hunger he’s left him with, long enough to bring him back here, where that Xin Mo-less version can’t follow.
He’s so consumed by his thoughts, thoughts of unravelling that new Shizun in so many ways, that he doesn’t see the attack coming.
It hits him square in the chest, a full-body shock, like lightning from the ninth heaven, blasting a gaping hole in his chest. He’ll be healed and awake soon, he’s more irritated than anything; dealing with the inevitable fall out of this will just be an annoying set back in his plans.

“Leashes.” He answers simply, savouring the affronted reaction he knew was coming. “Shishu can say no.” But he won’t, because deep down in a place his Shishu would never acknowledge, he craved the feeling of being controlled, pulled around on Binghe’s and Shizun’s strings. This was just making it more literal.
Liu Qingge bites his bottom lip as he thinks, probably twisting himself into knots while he thinks of a way to accept it while saving face. Luo Binghe lets him stew for a bit, and is about to remind Liu Qingge that he was the one who wanted to hurry up when he finally speaks up.
“You said Shen Qingqiu dreamed about it?” Liu Qingge asks, voice unusually and uncertain quiet.
“Yes.”
The words seem to drain the remaining trepidation right out of him, arms dropping to his sides. “Then I’ll wear it.”
Luo Binghe tries and fails to fight off his grin, he doesn’t want to seem too pleased. “Turn around Shishu.”

Summary
Sha Hauling hadn’t initially liked Ning Yingying all that much, identifying her, correctly, as both a competent but boring fighter and one of Liu Mingyan’s admirers. Their first meeting, at Liu Mingyan’s banned book club had been disastrous. Sha Hualing had tried to scare her off with a veiled threat about slicing her throat open, but the girl was either too naïve or stupid to tell she was being threatened. Worse, she seemed to think they were friends.
At their second meeting, where Mingyan couldn’t come to her book club because of a last-minute assignment from her Master. Ning Yingying followed her outside their meetup, jabbering on about inane stories featuring her Shimeis and Shidis as if Sha Hualing had any context for most any of it.
Hualing got the sudden overwhelming impulse to stick her fingers in Ning Yingying’s mouth to shut her up for a moment.
Sha Hualing has never supressed an impulse before in her life.
She’d expected the cultivator to spit out her fingers, to blanche, act indignant, storm of. Instead, Ning Yingying had squeaked, laved over each knuckle then bit her.

Summary
Simon wakes slowly, booting up one atom at a time. The first thing he registers is that he's pleasantly warm— not the suffocating heat of whatever iron lung they had sent him down to die in. The second thing he registers is the plushness of whatever surface he's lying on. There's no harsh metal boiling against his skin. He doesn't immediately open his eyes. His brain feels syrupy and full of fog all at once, and he finds it rather nice to just exist in this soft in-between. He'd done good, hadn't he? Was this Heaven? He died on that ship, in the mouth of a vengeful beast that couldn't recognize its own ghastlyness. Heaven was nice, Simon decided. He liked Heaven.

What didn't make sense was that someone had broken up with the man? Had had Ryland all to herself and decided that she didn't want him?!?
