Shane glanced up again, watching as the captain gestured vaguely toward Shane without looking at him. “Shane Hollander.” The name came out of his mouth like it was laced with poison.
Shane became very aware of many eyes turning to him now. He felt a few claps on the back and tried to force a tight smile. But his eyes wandered back up to Ilya Rozanov, who was looking at him with so much quiet contempt, that Shane started to understand the phrase ‘if looks could kill.’

OR: Ilya spirals into a deep depression when Shane breaks things off with him definitively after a horrifying run in with their feelings (and tuna melts).
They go no contact for close to a year until Shane is unexpectedly traded to Boston the following season.
Shane finds his new captain is a version of Ilya he's never seen before: dark, icy, and distant.
But their newfound proximity mixed with old feelings creates a complicated dynamic that they can't ignore forever.

"Happy to be of service," Hayden bowed, and Shane laughed, just as the door clicked open again behind him.
"Who is this?" A deep voice asked abruptly, in an accent that Shane dimly noticed sounded Russian.
"Our new roommate, Rozanov," Hayden rolled his eyes with a long-suffering sigh. "I literally told you about him last night."
Shane turned to see one of the most attractive men he'd ever seen in his life standing a foot away from him.
Realizing he'd been staring for a moment too long, Shane stuck out his hand. "I'm Shane Hollander."
The young man appraised him with disinterest for several seconds before saying, "Okay."
Shane dropped his hand, his face burning.
"Shane, this is Ilya Rozanov, but everyone just calls him Rozanov," Hayden exhaled. "And he is my asshole roommate of two years, going on three, and now one of your roommates.”
Rozanov smirked. “You are mad I get my own room while you share with him.”
“Oh, fuck off, Rozanov,” Hayden retorted. “Unlike you, I have friends, and one of them is Shane.”
“I have friends,” Rozanov dismissed.

Currently reading. Patiently waiting for chapter 49. VERY GOOD Uni AU set in Ottawa. They're both hockey players. Shane is studying physio and Ilya is studying physical education. Extremely funny and hot. This is the fic that has the Easy A reference. They're roommates with Hayden. Hayden has a crush on Shane and he JUST figured it out. Ilya is down BAD as per usual. Shane has a head injury. Shane's parent's know about them but Shane has no idea but Ilya definitely does. Marleau is also bi. Scott and Kip also go to the school and know about them. Ilya knows about Scott and Kip. Rose and JJ made out at the last party so fingers crossed for them.
