Summary: Arthur Pendragon is on top of the muggle world. He comes from wealth and political power, he's the top fencer in his class and as high in a social hierarchy as an eleven year old can climb. He is also a wizard, or so his letter says.
Merlin Ambrosius is a pure-blooded heir of one of the most renowned sacred 28 families. He's a descendent of the original Merlin. Penniless but powerful, Merlin is in his element at Hogwarts school.

Shirase returns with a plan to destroy Dazai. He uses a poisoned knife to curse Dazai to forget the faces of everyone who feels strongly about him. As Dazai wakes to find the faces of those he loves blurred, he concludes they must all secretly hate him. After all, who could ever love a demon like him? It is up to everyone else to prove to him that he is wrong.

Dazai was not his soulmate — Chuuya knows that now.
He’s gotten used to the feeling, even when he was grating against it and Dazai had made sure that there was no-one else left for him to care about, but being in a pit of his own making has done little to alleviate its existence. Of the lack that comes with being made wrong, digging in his nails and taking bullets he doesn’t ever need to take just so he’d seem less a blanked-out, lab grown freak each time he sees his skin in the shower or the bathroom mirror.
He’s given up wondering what Dazai’s soulmate must think of all the bullet wounds and scars, what kind of deranged, unlucky son of a bitch the universe deigned to saddle the mackerel to for life.
They would’ve died with him anyway. Selfish bastard.
Or: Soulmate AU set two years after Dazai's defection, where Chuuya believes that he died with Oda.

Dazai’s curls looked sad plastered to his face, and his wide-eyed expression, meant to make him look unassuming, only enhanced the sad, wet kitten aesthetic. “I’m fine,” he still assured them, waving his arm flippantly with a silly, stilted grin upturning his lips. He took a towel, but beyond lightly padding it over his arm bandages he made no move to seriously dry himself.

Ryuu blinked oddly, bringing his hands up to clap in an odd, patternless tune— slow and dry. Dazai-san deflated. “That’s not how you— whatever!” Like a balloon, he reinflated himself. “I’m gonna be giving you two a makeover!” He waved his splayed out hands around in a showy gesture, Gin’s eyes following each jolt of his palms.

How tangled they are in each other’s bones, getting better was never an option as long as they share the same air. Existing without hurting is only a miserable dream that they entertain till they inevitably break.---
