Chapter 21-
This is such an insane fic oh my god. Zuko is so incredible in this, and I love the path this story has followed. Despite everything, here Zuko is, still alive. Somehow. I can't get over how well-written this is, and the way the characterizations of everyone have been manipulated to fit the tone of the story without making them OOC. Hakoda is especially jarring, since we get to see him in a completely new light from the show, but not an unrealistic one. I find myself coming back to this story again and again. It's fucking amazing.

Things didn't exactly go to plan.
OR: spirited away from the fire nation by their mother and abandoned to a life of poverty and running, zuko and azula learn to manage. right until the avatar and his friends drop way too cheerfully into their life, and the war returns to them in earnest. a story of hope, hardship and learning to believe in humanity again. zuko wants absolutely nothing to do with it, thank you.

"Ok great!" Kon grinned wide and bright before something nervous caught in it. Barely a moment later he smoothed it out again, flipped to the second page of his presentation, and announced, "I think we should have a friends with benefits arrangement."
Regardless of whether or not he'd previously agreed to hearing Kon's proposal out, he could not have possibly stopped the knee jerk, "Absolutely not." From leaving his mouth.
"You promised!" Kon accused, pointing a finger at him, "You said you'd hear me out properly."

Or, Tim and Kon engage in the weirdest game of platonic gay chicken the world has ever seen.
