Summary
Rocky and Grace near the end of their mission to save Erid and Earth. They're in the homestretch now. Hopefully nothing else goes wrong...
“Grace?” I say. “You’re a good person. Kind. I wish I was more like you.”
He doesn’t answer for a moment. “Grace wish Grace was brave like Rocky. Grace is not brave. Rocky has crazy EVA suit. Grace has safe xenonite container.”
“Hey. You’re plenty brave. Going into space at all is brave. Nothing about this has been a walk in the park. Hell, you broke out of that “safe” xenonite container to save me. That was brave.”
“If Grace is brave then Rocky is kind.”
“That’s a called a logical fallacy. The two aren’t inherently connected, bud.” Why does Grace argue with me about everything? Can’t I just wallow miserably in peace?
This is a species swap au, in which Rocky is the human engineer aboard the Hail Mary and Grace is a science Eridian aboard the Blip-A.

Summary
Grace is too late rescuing Rocky. When he finds the Blip-A again, Rocky is already gone, so Grace does the only thing he can think of, and he takes Taumeoba-82.5 to Erid himself. If he can't save Rocky, well, he might as well make sure his death wasn't in vain.
He's sick, starving, and has no Eridian native to introduce him, but he's going to save Rocky's planet no matter what. After that... he supposes all that's left is for him to die. He's nearly out of food and Yao's gun is still tucked away safely in the Hail Mary's storage.
