Summary
“Rumi?” Mira questioned uncertainly. The demons had frozen as well, staring at Rumi as she stared back. The tense silence stretched. The hallway felt like the oxygen had been sucked out and the dim lighting cast shadows all around.
“Rumi, there’s no such thing as half demons. We would know. Celine would have told us. It has to be a trick….” Zoey said but it was clear she still had her own reservations.
And what could Rumi say to that? Celine had said she could find no records of any other half demons, not anywhere in the archive. How could hunters have never encountered a single half demon in the nearly 800 years since the honmoon was created? What were the chances they would meet them now, in this generation, when Rumi herself was one? It felt like a trap. It had to be a trap.
But…
“Rumi?”
“She’s bleeding.” She said softly. “Demons don’t bleed.”

Summary
Rumi touched her fingers to her ribs. She could feel the heat radiating from her skin, even through her clothes. A distant, miserable part of her said, this is going to hurt.
She pushed her fingers down.
The rib shifted.
The thing about telling one very big lie is that it requires a foundation of hundreds of smaller lies to hold it up, lies such as "I'm fine," and "nothing's broken," and "it doesn't hurt."
Rumi finds this out the hard way.

Summary
Rumi knew she’d been standing on the sidewalk staring at the doorway long enough for it to be creepy, but she couldn’t help it.
It wasn’t that the doorway in question was itself daunting or anything; it was just a typical glass door, for a business that sat tucked away on a side street on the outskirts of Seoul. It was even sitting on the sunny side of the street as the day gently rolled over from morning to noontime, making the small chalkboard ‘welcome’ sign hanging inside it gleam all the brighter.
No, the part that was giving Rumi pause was what laid beyond the door. And the potential it had to change...everything.
Was she ready? Really ready?
...No.
Not really.
But she was also sick and tired of not being ready, so whatever she was now would just have to do.

Summary
"If you do this, you need to be prepared to fully commit to this life."
"I can do that," Rumi said quickly. "I can—"
"And your friends," Celine continued, as if Rumi hadn't spoken. "The ones you've been practicing with. You need to understand that they're not going to be part of this journey. Silver invited you, not them—and even if they are good enough to pass a general audition, the chances of all three of you ending up in the same company, let alone the same group, are virtually zero."
Something cold settled in Rumi's chest. Celine must have noticed something in her expression. She laid a hand on her shoulder.
"Life rarely goes according to plan, Rumi," she said gently. "Though not every change is necessarily a bad one. This opportunity is yours alone. You need to decide if you're willing to take it."
Or, the girls promise each other that they’re always going to be together. It doesn’t work out.
