What he did feel was mild pity for the Russian putting on the worst display of theatrics. He’s watched Ilya get shoved into the boards with a force that had medics at the ready. He’s watched Ilya get into fights with players twice his size and walk away with a shit eating grin. Shane’s punch, while not forgiving in force at all, was nothing. At least Shane thought.
Really, the victim here was Shane. His core rocked against his flesh, buzzing as if all fifty states celebrated the Fourth of July in his guts, the sparkling feeling nauseated him. Nevertheless, he went to Ilya’s aid, hence the run for tissues.

Telling people about Ilya is an even bigger deal, somehow, because even those few who are fine with Shane being gay have a difficult time with the Rozanov of it all. Shane doesn’t like dwelling on how much it bothers him because… well, it’s inevitable, isn’t it? He’s always gonna have to defend his decision to be with his boyfriend, like Ilya’s not the kindest, strongest, most beautiful person Shane knows. Like he’s not the love of Shane’s life.

The New York Admirals have just won a game in Montreal against the Metros. A game that should have been an easy win for Montreal, except Scott Hunter has been watching the cracks in the team's usual flow deepen throughout the night.
