Summary
Federico understands that upon agreeing to label their relationship as something more than friends–which in itself, is still a concept he hasn’t fully grasped yet–Flamebringer barely gained anything from it. Federico’s opinion on him hasn’t changed at all and he treats Flamebringer the same as any other person who he believes is cordial with him. He never initiates, unsure of what would be considered a romantic activity that wouldn’t require being too amorous, but also intimate enough that they wouldn’t be mistaken as just friends. Federico still finds himself tensing up when Flamebringer’s hand brushes his cheek, or when he teasingly brushes his hair back, any touch that insinuates affection, or desire, or anything that passes the boundary of something a friend is allowed to do. He’s out of his element, and most of the time the calculations and logic he holds on to for guidance eludes him because everything about what they are right now is illogical.
Amidst Lateranian history textbooks and a cup of the sweetest frappe known to men, Federico begins to contemplate the intricacies of intimate relationships.
