    “The...the dead s-students...they…” Toko sputtered out, then fell silent again.
    “What?! What about them?” Hina asked, alarmed. “Did Monokuma-or Junko -do something to them?”
    “Are they ghosts?!” Hiro yelled, his eyes wide.
    “No they’re not g-ghosts you i-idiot!” Toko yelled. “Th-they’re alive!”

    Frankly. Makoto Naegi was a little sick of Hope's Peak, and especially Junko Enoshima. All he wanted was to get out of this school, see his family again, and spread hope to the world or something along those lines.
    However, as luck would have it, Junko has roped him and the other survivors into something bigger than he's anticipated, despite clearly being dead.
    Although... death in this world seems to be not quite as clear as they had previously thought.

    Makoto is an exceedingly average teenager in a world on the brink of disaster. Abducted along with a group of supposedly super powered teenagers to be ‘kept safe’ inside a prison like building, his search for answers leads him into more trouble than he bargained for.

    As the group investigates the history of Hope’s Peak as well as their own mysterious origins, Makoto is told he may be the last line of defense against a mysterious force that wishes to turn them into the ultimate despair to unleash on mankind.

    Makoto Naegi is not a hero by any standards, and compared to his newfound friends he’s certainly nothing special. But he’s got something to fight for now: his friends, his family, his own free will… maybe even the fate of the world.
