Though several thousand years out of the social network tends to make someone rather inept at even the most casual of conversations. If there is one thing the Radio Demon is good at, it's manipulating and reading people. Lucifer figured he could probably use that.

It had felt like Kris couldn’t remember the last time they were free from their soul; besides caging it away in the deep nights. They thought— prayed to be free from the ugly droning sound in the back of their head that followed the pulse of that soul. They wanted to break from the restraint of its captive will. They wanted, just for one day at least, to not worry about what they might do if this higher being decided to have its way. So they decided to cage it for longer. As long as they could. They were tired of the responsibility. This, although, wasn’t very beneficial to them in the long run. Unfortunately, Kris couldn’t act at top performance for long without it.

Hawks didn’t understand what that meant when his handler explained it to him, he was eleven, after all. He knew a bit here and there about biology, especially when it pertained to the avian aspects of his mutation quirk, but some of the more complicated bits still flew right over his head.

There’s a tightening feeling low in Shanks’ stomach as his gaze follows those long fingers wrap around the neck of the bottle, the candlelight lancing over a sharp cheekbone. Mihawk is terrifying before he is beautiful, but Shanks isn’t afraid of him, and Mihawk is so fucking pretty. The dim glow filtering in through the windows is beginning to tinge warm, reminding Shanks that they’re on borrowed time; he glances at the clock and decides. He reaches over before Mihawk can straighten and curls his fingers around the shell of his ear.
“Hey.”
Mihawk stills and looks at him from the corner of his eye, barely turning his head. The bottle is in his hand, and Shanks trails his fingers down Mihawk’s jaw to take the liquor from him and set it down on the table.

Scaramouche looked down when he felt the shirt being ripped, about to tell him off until he felt the cold sword pressing against his warm chest, inching towards his stomach. Now if only he could get Best Jeanist to understand that too. For some reason the older pro-hero keeps insisting on poking his nose into Hawks' business, and it's getting downright annoying.
Aka, a story in which a few people asked a few more questions, and Hawks finds out that there's more to life than what the Hero Commission wants from him.
