Summary
After a rabies exposure, the virus must travel to the brain before it can cause symptoms. Therefore, the incubation period may last for weeks to months depending on several factors such as location of the exposure site (in relation to the brain) and age; in extremely rare cases it could be dormant for years.
Rumi thinks about this one frequently, lying in bed at night; the idea that you could be wasting away at any moment in your life. A poison in your veins with you none the wiser– like a ticking bomb just waiting to go off.
You would need to get bit or scratched first, of course, and if you took the right precautions you would likely never know. And Rumi has never been bitten anyway. She’s fine.

She pushes her glasses back up her nose, eyes never moving from the spot on Rumi’s shoulder. Hm. They are, in fact, still there.
“Zoey,” Mira calls, keeping her voice low, not wanting to alert Rumi, because, quite frankly, she needs to talk to anyone else who isn't the source of the problem right now.
Zoey, thankfully, picks up on the tone in her voice, easily making her way over from across the compound, giving Mira a look. Mira just gestures for Zoey to get closer to her, and once Zoey is shoulder-to-shoulder with her, Mira gestures over toward Rumi.
There’s a pause.
“Huh,” Zoey decides, frowning. “That’s...” she trails off, waving a hand as she tilts her head to the side. “Different.”
“Something like that,” Mira agrees, crossing her arms over her chest. “Rumi has patterns.”
Zoey makes a noise. “Yeah. I guess so, huh?”

Summary
Zoey had always enjoyed putting things together.
From building Lego sets with her older brother in his room. To replacing car parts with her father on a Tuesday morning in July. To lazy evenings sat at the coffee table piecing together a jigsaw puzzle with her mom. There was a certain satisfaction Zoey found in going from a thousand splintered pieces to a finished product.
Huntrix is a fractured mess in the wake of Gwi-ma’s defeat. The tenuous relationship they’d started in the back third of the world tour was straining at the edges and threatening to buckle under the weight of their individual betrayals.
On the surface everything seemed fine - they were professionals after all. From the outside not a single hair or emotion was out of place. No faults to exploit, no fears to be shown.
But they were still cowards, still liars.
And Zoey isn’t sure if she knows how to fix the broken pieces of her heart.

The mattress dipped slightly, then Zoey crawled beneath the covers and wrapped her arms around Rumi from behind. She could still smell the sweet strawberry scent of her shampoo from hours before. Her hands were small, but a soft warmth radiated from where they rested on the bare skin of Rumi’s stomach; an unfamiliar sensation, sure, but not a new one.
This was not the first time Zoey had come to Rumi’s bed in the middle of the night, but it was something she was still getting used to.

"Y'know. Something like, oh my god! The pop filter shot off the mic and gouged Mira in the eye! If only she had been wearing her sexy glasses!"
"Let's think of something else," Mira says.
"DJ Mira," Jinu corrects at the same time.
"It gouged DJ Mira in the eye!"

Knowing that the latter is a devout skeptic of the supernatural, they’re hoping their investigation will finally convert Rumi to the side of the believers, or at least capture some quality footage of their fearless leader getting jumpy.
Little do they know, Rumi’s not exactly human herself, and she’s going to protect her girls from any evil spirits or malignant demons.
Or, this is a Buzzfeed Unsolved AU where hunters don’t exist, and Rumi’s secret demon heritage allows her to protect her girls from all the things that go bump in the night while playing the resident skeptic to conceal her identity.

For the vase to have cracks along its side is to have made a mistake, to know that you, as the creator, have failed. When Rumi was created, she emerged broken.
And a broken vase is thrown away, right?
An alternate story in which Rumi finds herself grappling with feelings of depression, self-doubt and suicide. Takes place after Huntrix defeats Gwi-Ma.

In hindsight, it should have been obvious. The way Rumi refused to go to the bathhouse, her bizarre relationship with Celine, this whole thing with the Saja Boys? Mira prided herself on reading people, and she felt stupid for not seeing it sooner. The pieces were all there, just waiting to be put together.
Rumi was gay.
The night after the joint signing with the Saja Boys, Mira went to confront Rumi about her ongoing weird behavior. Instead of letting hurt feelings drive the conversation, Mira took a minute to try and figure out what might be wrong. Unfortunately, she came to the completely wrong conclusion.
Misunderstandings ensue. They talk it out.
For better or worse, everything changes.
