Summary
A man—no, being—stood before him. Dressed in business casual, his brown khakis and cream sweater didn’t ripple even as the wind shook the nearby leaves. He was as tall as the trees around them. Eyes black like an all-encompassing void and white hair contrasting against his bronze skin, his presence still and absolute.
“Who are you?” Rok Soo asked hesitantly, questioning the absurdity of the situation.
The god nodded once and smiled gently as he looked down at the small soul in front of him. “I am the God of Death.”
“Am I dead?”
The god tilted his head slightly, amused. “Not quite. This is a place between choices, not ends.”
Rok Soo frowned. “So, like Limbo? Are you here to judge me?”
The God of Death did not answer immediately. He extended his hand and gestured to the forest around them.
“This is the Infinite Forest,” he said. “Each tree is an original story. Each branch is a life diverged. Each leaf, a soul’s journey. Every decision, every possibility that ever was, is, or could be, grows here.”
