“Jayce.” Viktor’s voice. Not the corrupted inflexion of the Arcane Herald.
It’s a relief to see Viktor’s face again, unobscured by magic. His features are softer than Jayce remembers.
“Jayce,” Viktor says, more urgently this time. It may be the desperation in his voice, but his pitch sounds higher than Jayce remembers. “Something is wrong.”
“What?” Only now does he notice the strain in his own voice, as if speaking in a lower register no longer comes naturally.
The weight of his own body is starting to come back, as is the ever-present throbbing in his broken leg. One question looms heavier than the pain: what just happened to them?
After years of growth, evolution and finding themselves, Jayce and Viktor find themselves in a new realm with... their old bodies?? The Arcane has reversed many of the gender-affirming changes they went through over 7 years of knowing each other. As they adjust to living a new life, they also take steps together to deal with dysphoria

The role originated by his celebrity crush Viktor. The role in which Viktor had a career-ending injury.

Faced with the prospect of oblivion, the mage reflects on his actions. Things he regrets, things he doesn't.
Finding Jayce over and over despite the universe's desperate attempts to keep them apart was not something he regretted. Even if he did lose a little piece of himself every time he meddled.

Summary
As far as punishments go, rebirthing a once terminally ill man - whose obsession with human perfection drove him to almost end humanity - in a hospital bed in palliative care could be seen as a little on the nose. To make it the same one he woke up in all those months-years-a lifetime ago, especially so. But Viktor can’t help feeling it’s far better than he deserves.
Viktor emerges from the Arcane, alone. He’s not sure he can navigate a world that doesn’t have Jayce Talis in it.
